food, mexican, restaurant,

Mexico might be 1‚500 miles away‚ but you don’t have to go that far for deliciosa Mexican cuisine. In fact‚ Martinsville is home to a number of restaurants where you can sample authentic comida from south of the border.

At El Ranchito on Commonwealth Boulevard‚ diners can indulge in nachos‚ fajitas and many chicken specialties. Assistant manager José Basquez says popular dishes include Pollo Tapatio and Pollo Feliz‚ or Happy Chicken. These dishes come from the Michoacán region of Mexico.

Over at Corona on A.L. Philpott High way‚ favorite menu items are steaks‚ Vera Cruz chicken and shrimp. Restaurant employee Leo Garcia says this style of food is from the Jalisco region of Mexico‚ a coastal area where seafood is popular.

Other noted Mexican restaurants in the area are Mi Ranchito on Memorial Boulevard and El Parral in Collinsville.
