Spencer-Penn School closed in 2004 due to consolidation of Henry County Schools, but it has come back to life in recent years.

Today, the building that was constructed in 1927 is known as the Spencer-Penn Centre. It rents space for stores, exercise classes, banquets, a dance studio, on-site daycare and wedding receptions.

A group of citizens formed a nonprofit corporation in the 1990s to purchase the old building, then restored and resurrected it as a community center. The building has since been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
